As part of its updates to its winter flight schedule, Hawaiian Airlines – part of the Alaska Air Group – announced it will deploy its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on its flights between Seattle and Tokyo during the start of 2026.
Announced by Honolulu, Hawaii-based Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaiian will replace the Airbus A330-200 aircraft currently used on its daily flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita with its 787-9 aircraft from early January through mid-April.
According to aeroroutes.com, the 787 operation on the Seattle-Tokyo route is listed from January 7, 2026 to April 20, 2026.
Previously Hawaiian launched the Seattle-Narita route on May 13. The deployment of the 787-9 will provide a larger passenger capacity compared to the A330 with 300 seats versus the A330's 278. Passengers traveling between the two cities will be able to book the airline's new Leihōkū Suites featuring lie-flat beds and Extra Comfort seats.
In addition, Hawaiian's other updates to its winter 2025-2026 schedule include an increase of its flights between Honolulu and Sydney from five-times weekly to daily between December 18 and January 31, 2026; a fifth daily flight between Honolulu and Los Angeles using an Airbus A321no aircraft during two periods (November 21-December 1, and December 19-January 6, 2026); and a fourth daily widebody flight between Honolulu and Seattle between late-November and mid-April.
The Seattle-Tokyo route is one of two trans-Pacific routes Hawaiian will operate as part of the Alaska Air Group before year's end. From September 12, the airline will launch a new route between Seattle and Seoul Incheon with five-weekly flights using Airbus A330 aircraft.
